Michael is a Senior Director of Hospitality Analytics at CoStar Group, focused on several major US hotel markets.
Michael has over fifteen years of experience in real estate transaction advisory and valuation for financial reporting across all major asset types, with a particular focus on hotels, advising clients throughout the lifecycle of their real estate investments.
Experience
At CoStar, Michael develops market insights and identifies trends for several of the top 25 hotel markets on performance, pipeline, and transaction activity. In addition, Michael and the forecasting team develop market-level hotel forecasts for several hotel markets.
Prior to CoStar, Michael spent ten years at Ernst & Young within the strategy and transactions group, working on real estate merger and acquisition deals, including financial and commercial due diligence, feasibility studies, portfolio and asset optimization, and value creation projects.
Michael started his path in hospitality finance with Hospitality Valuation Services (HVS) based in New York, where he completed over $6B of hotel appraisal and numerous market and feasibility studies.
More recently, he has been instructing hospitality finance courses for Cornell University’s online Hotel Real Estate Investments and Asset Management certificate, interacting with professionals looking to deepen their knowledge of hotel investments.
