April joined the Fitzsimons Innovation Community in 2018 as their Vice President of Business Development. In her role, April focuses advancing innovative ideas, building key partnerships, guiding strategic development, and operational leadership to build a life science innovation community.
Prior to this role, April served as the President & CEO of the Colorado Bioscience Association where she led community partnerships, provided strategic guidance on local and national initiatives to grow the industry in Colorado, and led advocacy on behalf of the industry at both the state and federal levels. Additionally, April developed and served as the President & CEO of the Colorado Bioscience Institute, a 501c3 related entity to the Association to cultivate and diversity the state’s life science workforce.
Prior to joining the CBSA, April held two positions at the University of Colorado for over 6 years. She worked in the Board of Regents Office supporting the nine elected officials and was recruited from that office to the University’s Heath Sciences (now Anschutz Medical) campus where she worked with governmental agencies, professional organizations, the business community, state and federal legislators, media, and donors to the University of Colorado.
April serves as an executive committee and board member for the Colorado Bioscience Association, chairing the Development Committee. She also serves on the Denver Metro Chamber Board, the Metro Denver Economic Development Corporation executive committee, the Adams County Regional Economic Partnership board, and is a member of the University of Colorado, Graduate School advisory board.
