Jesse Brown has spent eight of his 10 years in construction as a preconstruction manager, working primarily in the world of multi-family housing with an emphasis on Colorado affordable housing.
Jesse’s list of affordable housing clients includes Boulder County Housing Authority, Loveland Housing Authority, Urban Land Conservancy, and The Empowerment Group. His seven affordable housing projects range in size from $17 M to more than $80 M.
Jesse is currently providing preconstruction services on three affordable projects. He sees the complex financing structures as the biggest differentiators between affordable housing and conventional multi-family housing, and they are also a preconstruction team’s biggest hurdles.
“The funding phase of an affordable housing project is the most challenging from a variety of perspectives. Preconstruction teams must be adaptable to conform to the unique documentation that is required from multiple financing entities and to understand that their financing deadlines are hard and fast.”
Jesse is driven by his passion to create comfortable affordable housing for a generation of millennials for whom home ownership prospects are at an all-time low. “As a millennial, I see firsthand the challenges of home ownership, but I also see the wonderful opportunities that Colorado affordable housing programs offer my generation.”
