Kristofer Johnson, AICP, PLA, is a Principal City Planner for the City and County of Denver and a member of the Urban Design team within the Department of Community Planning and Development. He is a professional landscape architect and certified planner with 15 years of experience in the field of planning and design, primarily as a private-sector consultant. His previous work has given him the ability to broker consensus among private developers, public agencies, and the community through collaborative design solutions in planning efforts at a range of scales. After joining the City, Kristofer led the effort to establish a multi-layered regulatory framework for the Central Platte Valley – Auraria neighborhood of downtown that aims to balance high-intensity urban development with quality design and community benefits. He is now taking this approach into the Golden Triangle and other areas of downtown Denver to promote a more consistent and comprehensive system of zoning and design review for the heart of the city. He has a master’s degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.
