Mr. Matt Ferrari is the Co-Chief Investment Officer and Head of Acquisitions nationally at TruAmerica Multifamily while also serving on TruAmerica’s Investment Committee.

Since joining TruAmerica in 2016 to lead the firm’s investment efforts on the East Coast, Mr. Ferrari has played a meaningful role in TruAmerica’s phenomenal growth. Mr. Ferrari has been a driving force in TruAmerica’s national expansion opening new investment markets in the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, Southeast, Texas and the Ohio River Valley. Mr. Ferrari currently manages the acquisitions team and has acquired $10 billion in multifamily properties and over 47,000 units during his tenure.

In addition, Mr. Ferrari oversees operations and asset management for TruAmerica’s Eastern and Central United States portfolio, comprising 22,000 apartments.
For his work, Mr. Ferrari has received numerous accolades as one of the most influential young leaders in the multifamily industry. He has twice been recognized by the respected real estate trade publication Globe St. as one of the top 50 real estate executives under the age of 40.

Mr. Ferrari is active with his alma mater Georgetown University where he sits on the Steering Committee Board at the University’s McDonough School of Business’ Steers Center for Global Real Estate. In this capacity he participates in the school’s mentoring program. Additionally, he guest lectures at the school and has produced a video lecture for their online courses. Mr. Ferrari is also a member of the Blue Council of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) and the National Multifamily Housing Council’s (NMHC) Political Action Committee (PAC).

Prior to joining TruAmerica, Mr. Ferrari was an Investments Director at AvalonBay Communities Inc., an S&P 500 publicly traded multifamily REIT where he was responsible for acquisitions and dispositions in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast. During his four years at AvalonBay, Mr. Ferrari was responsible for $500 million in acquisitions and $1.3 billion in dispositions. Prior to AvalonBay, Mr. Ferrari was a Regional Operations Director at Archstone Communities, Inc. after working in their Leadership and Management Development rotational program.

Mr. Ferrari holds an M.B.A. from Georgetown’s McDonough School of Business and a B.S. in Management and Business from Skidmore College. He regularly speaks at industry events including IMN, NMHC, Bisnow, Globe St., Interface, GreenPearl and at many national broker events including CBRE, Berkadia, and others.
