Stephen Shepard, the Executive Vice President of BOMA Denver Metro, and loves seeing the Rockies every day from his office. Stephen is no stranger to BOMA as he also served in the same role for BOMA Austin 2015-2019 and BOMA Oakland/East Bay starting in January 2012. He is a Certified Association Executive (CAE) and has been an active member of the association industry since 2003. Stephen has worked for other associations in the role of training and development, conferences, membership and was the Chief Operating Officer at the American Accounting Association in Sarasota, Florida.

Stephen has been active in all of his associations as a promoter of the importance of bringing young professionals into the membership of an organization. He is passionate about mentoring and, at the Institute of Management Accountants, helped establish the Backpack to Briefcase Series at the Student Conference. He has spoken to groups over the years about personal brand, business etiquette, and generations in the workplace.

Stephen earned his B.S. in Curriculum and Instruction from Texas A&M University. His first career was an Elementary School Teacher in Texas for six years.  Before associations, he worked in the tech and financial services industries in different leadership capacities such as training, marketing, and customer service. He believes association executives should practice what they preach about member engagement, so he is very engaged in the Colorado Society of Association Executives.

Being a Military Brat, Stephen has moved around his entire life exploring new cities, living in 7 cities since graduation from University. He has visited all 50 states and numerous countries on three other continents. He loves to travel and participate in outdoor activities with friends, which is what brought him to Colorado. His dream vacations are the Galapagos Islands and Australia/New Zealand. He has done volunteer work in the past with the American Cancer Society, The Wounded Warriors Project, and different HIV/Aids organizations in the places he resided. He is very close with his family, which keeps him rooted in Texas, in spite of all his exploring.
