From October 2003 through February 2009, he served as Vice President with one of the Company’s subsidiaries. Prior to that he was a founding member and Vice President of Development of MedCap Properties LLC, a real estate company located in Nashville, Tennessee that owned, operated and developed real estate in the healthcare field. HCP acquired MedCap Properties LLC in October 2003.

Mr. Hulme has over 28 years of medical building development expertise, having been involved in the development of more than 100 medical properties including hospitals, medical office buildings, surgery centers, and other hospital and outpatient facilities during his career. In addition to these achievements, he has had oversight responsibilities for the development of more than five million square feet of medical office and outpatient ancillary facility development, with a value exceeding $1B.  He assisted in determining hospital real estate policies and procedures for structuring these specific transactions and was responsible for negotiating and tailoring legal ownership structures for more than 500,000 square feet of off- balance sheet development. In his HCP role, Tom works with fee-for-service developers to direct the development process including, market feasibility studies, budgeting, scheduling, design criteria, construction and the leasing of new buildings.
