Craft Companies LLC, a Colorado-based real estate firm specializing in the development of sustainable communities, has acquired the Independence development at Hilltop Road, and County Round 158 and County Road 5 in the northwest corner of Elbert County.
The development will cover 1,011 acres with 920 single-family residential homes, parks, a school site, in addition to over 433 acres that will be preserved in a contiguous and natural state to maintain the rural environment of Elbert County. The sustainable community will employ innovative conservation methods to preserve open space, water, energy and other natural resources.
This acquisition marks the culmination of over 50 years of real estate experience for Craft Cos., which has worked for over six years to bring the project to the acquisition and development stage. To date, Craft Cos. has managed the creation of eight master-planned communities that range from resort development to downtown high-rise community projects.
Independence will offer a range of lot sizes, residential densities and housing options for a variety of buyers, including families, teachers, government employees and first responders. Homes will be available for purchase in summer 2019.
