Etkin Johnson Real Estate Partners has landed a spacecraft and small-satellite company for an 80,132-square-foot office/flex building in Lafayette.
Boulder-based Blue Canyon Technologies, which builds satellites as well as spacecraft for government, commercial and academic missions, leased 2550 Crescent Drive, a two-story building at Lafayette Corporate Campus. It will relocate to the property in the first quarter from two of the three buildings it occupies in Lake Centre Business Park in Boulder.
The Lafayette building will house multiple operations, including day-to-day management, engineering, manufacturing, distribution, and research and development.
Blue Canyon, which doubled its employee base last year, has more than 50 satellites in production.
“As Blue Canyon Technologies expands its satellite manufacturing and R&D, they need a partner like Etkin Johnson who can support their continued growth,” said Ryan Good, executive vice president and partner at Etkin Johnson.
Lafayette Corporate Campus consists of 293,394 sf in five buildings, providing potential for future expansion.
“Lafayette Corporate Campus is an ideal real estate solution for aerospace and advanced technology companies due to its large floor plates, ample parking and highly sought-after location along the U.S. 36 corridor,” said Good.
“It’s a good location for them on the corridor,” agreed Neil Littmann of The Colorado Group Inc., who represented Blue Canyon Technologies with The Colorado Group’s Jessica Cashmore. Littmann said the tenant likes the proximity to Highway 287, Highway 36 and the Northwest Parkway.
“It’s a good location to attract employment,” he said.
Blue Canyon Technologies occupies 55,323 sf in three buildings at Lake Centre. Littmann and Cashmore will be offering two of the buildings, or about 25,000 sf, for sublease.
