Second-ever Amazon 4-star opens at Park Meadows

The store is located on the upper level of Park Meadows and features products rated four stars and above.

Brick and mortar meet dot-com.

The second-ever Amazon 4-star has opened its doors at Park Meadows in Lone Tree, where the 4,000-square-foot space is a physical store for the online giant.

Amazon 4-star, located on the upper level of the shopping center, carries a curated selection of products – everything for sale is rated four stars and above, is a top seller or is new and trending on Amazon.com – and includes devices, consumer electronics, toys, games, books, kitchen, home and additional products. Additionally, the store includes “Trending Around Denver,” products that Denver area customers are buying, as well as “Frequently Bought Together” and “Amazon Exclusives.”

Customers also can test-drive Amazon devices, including Echo and Smart Home accessories, and Prime members pay the Amazon.com price in the store.

“Park Meadows has actually always strived to have the newest, cutting-edge, most current, most unusual and most transformative type of retail,” said Pamela Schenck Kelly, senior general manager at Park Meadows.

The addition of Amazon 4-star to the tenant lineup is the latest in a series of first-to-market openings at the shopping center, Schenck Kelly added, noting that the center opened in 1996 and by 1997, Park Meadows had brought 37 new stores and restaurants to the marketplace.

“We opened the first-ever Tesla in a mall and the third Microsoft store. We look to the internet and e-commerce as another type of retail venue and that is where a lot of the startups transition into brick and mortar,” she continued. “Retail is really a multiple platform business. The same way its evolved from catalogs to general stores to downtown marketplaces to malls, etc., etc. It’s just the world inventing itself again.

“That’s what we do in the mall business, we transform what we do with our retailers and restaurant selection to address what is happening in the global marketplace.”

The Colorado location comes on the heels of Amazon opening its first 4-star store in New York City in September. A third location in Berkeley, California, also is planned.

Amazon 4-star leased in total 6,000 sf at the center at 8401 Park Meadows Center Drive. It occupies the former Abercrombie & Fitch space across from Macy’s.

Additional lease details were not disclosed.

Park Meadows now has two Amazon locations for customers to shop, Amazon 4-star and Amazon Pop-Up.
