Allen Ginsborg is Managing Director and Principal NewMark Merrill’s Mountain States Division. He leads the company’s efforts to purchase, develop, manage, and re-develop shopping centers throughout the Rocky Mountain region.
Prior to joining NewMark Merrill Companies, Ginsborg was Co-founder and Principal of Pacific Retail Partners – a leading California retail landlord and tenant representation firm which he co-founded in 1993. Under Ginsborg’s leadership, the company has developed or leased more than 15 million feet of shopping center space in California and Colorado. Ginsborg will continue to serve as a founder of Pacific Retail Partners as he takes the reigns of NewMark Merrill Mountain States.

Ginsborg is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of UCLA who began his career at Royal Business Machines, where he was a top salesman. During his 25 years in the shopping center industry, Ginsborg has completed over 1,000 shopping center transactions valued in excess of $1 billion.

From 1983 to 1993, he worked for CB Commercial where he specialized in anchor tenant representation, as well as in leasing and selling major shopping centers ranging in size from 150,000 to 450,000 square feet. From 1993 to 2003, Allen represented The Home Depot in its Colorado expansion, assisting the company with the establishment of more than 30 new locations. He also ran the national retail development group for Catellus Development, the largest private landowner in California. In 2006, Ginsborg leased and co-developed a 500,000 square foot Target anchored power center for McWhinney Enterprises in the Centerra Master planned community in Loveland, Colorado.

Ginsborg has received several honors and accolades throughout his career. He was twice a member of the Colbert Coldwell Circle, ranking 13th and 35th nationally among 2,700 CB Commercial brokers. Ginsborg’s success among his peers at CB Commercial testifies to his retailing acumen skills: 1992 – #5 retail specialist nationwide; 1989 – #1 retail specialist nationwide; 1988 – #9 retail specialist nationwide; 1987 – #13 retail specialist nationwide.

He is a strong believer in giving back to the community and currently holds board positions with the Alliance Defense Fund, the Fort Collins Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Long’s Peak Boy Scouts of America Council. He is a frequent speaker at the Colorado State University School of Real Estate and serves on the State Program Committee for International Council of Shopping Centers. Ginsborg, his wife Jeanne, and their four children moved to Fort Collins in 1998 to focus on business in the region and to be closer to the excellent skiing, fishing and backpacking found in the Rocky Mountains.
