Brock Smethills serves as the President of Sterling Ranch Development Company, the developer of Sterling Ranch, a large, master planned community in Douglas County, Colorado. Under his leadership Sterling Ranch has grown into the predominant master planned community in the region, with sales of over 3,000 homes and 9,000 residential units left to build.

As President, Brock oversees strategic planning, the execution of sustainability and technology programs, along with all aspects of development, including land sales, engineering and land entitlement for its $200 million+ construction program. He leads all negotiations for residential homebuilders, commercial property acquisitions, and bond issuances.

Brock has been instrumental in implementing the industry leading water demand management efforts within Sterling Ranch, culminating in Sterling Ranch’s average water consumption exceeding the Colorado State Water Plan’s goal over thirty years ahead of theoretical residential water usage in 2050.

Brock has been involved in leading renewable energy and sustainability efforts and serves on the Xcel Renewable Energy Trust Board and on the Board of Dominion Water and Sanitation District. He also serves on the Board of Visitors for the Vanderbilt School of Engineering and the Douglas County Community Foundation. He is a sought-after speaker on sustainability and renewable water system innovation.
