Derek Holcomb joined the City of Greenwood Village as the Community Development Director in January 2019. Derek spent the past 12 years working for the City of Centennial, where he most recently served as the Deputy Community Development Director. Derek is a second-generation Colorado native, and has obtained his undergraduate and postgraduate degrees from two different Colorado universities. Derek holds a Bachelor of Environmental Design (City Planning) degree from the University of Colorado, Boulder, and a Master of Science (Management) degree from Colorado State University. Derek is a proud husband and father, spending as much time as possible with his lovely wife and three beautiful girls.

During his time in Centennial, Derek worked on several key projects, including: The Streets at SouthGlenn, Top Golf, ViewHouse-Centennial, and Performance Cycle of Colorado. Derek recently oversaw the Centennial Comprehensive Plan rewrite project and previously worked on the staff team that rewrote the City’s zoning code. One of Derek’s most notable accomplishments was authoring enhanced use and design standards for the Central Arapahoe Road Corridor, approved in 2017 for the area between I-25 and Parker Road.
