James D. “Jim” Harrison, Jr. is the founder and principal of Harrison Properties, LLC, one of the Southwest’s largest privately held industrial real estate ownership groups. Based in
Phoenix, Arizona, Jim brings more than four decades of experience in commercial real estate investment, development, and portfolio management.
Jim earned his bachelor’s degree in Real Estate and Finance from the University of Colorado in 1983, where he was honored with the Kenneth Good Real Estate Scholarship for his entrepreneurial promise.
He launched his career in Coldwell Banker’s comprehensive training program, gaining hands-on experience in mortgage banking, appraisal, property management, and multiple asset classes, including retail, industrial, and office. Over his ten-year tenure, Jim earned numerous accolades—most notably Rookie of the Year in 1985—and consistently ranked as the top-producing salesperson in Arizona.
Jim then joined Cushman & Wakefield, spending five years overseeing national real estate operations for Fleming Companies, Inc., the largest food distributor in the United States at the time.
For the past 30 years, Jim has led the growth of Harrison Properties, LLC. Under his leadership, the firm has built a robust and geographically diverse industrial portfolio, including:
• 12 million+ sq. ft. in Phoenix, Arizona
• 1.2 million sq. ft. in Salt Lake City, Utah
• 500,000+ sq. ft. in Albuquerque, New Mexico
• 365,000 sq. ft. in Midland, Texas
• 1.6 million sq. ft. in Denver, Colorado
These properties are strategically located with excellent transportation access and feature specialized amenities such as common truck wells and storage yards. Harrison Properties recently completed a major acquisition in Colorado—an expansion aligned with Jim’s long-standing ties to the state, Boulder, and the University of Colorado.
Jim is an active member of the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO) and the Thunderbirds, and he participates in several leadership forums. He serves on the Board of Directors at the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado and is also a member of the Mexican Tennis Association (MTA).
Outside of work, Jim enjoys hunting, fishing, golfing, tennis, team roping, and spending quality time with family and friends.
