Michael Cahill is CEO and founder of HREC – Hospitality Real Estate Counselors. Mr. Cahill is nationally recognized as a leading hotel and gaming industry advisor and transaction intermediary. located throughout North America and multiple international countries. During his 25 plus year hotel consulting, brokerage, management and development career, he has analyzed all major U.S. hotel markets.
Mr. Cahill brings real world experience to his investment banking and consulting engagements. He was one of the original founders of the Microtel Inn hotel brand and participated in the Initial Public Offering. Previously, Mr. Cahill was also on the board of directors of Hudson Hotels, a hotel development and management company which operated 43 hotels. Mike was also a co-founder of HVS Executive Search, a leading gaming and hotel recruitment firm.
Michael Cahill has authored over 80 articles on matters pertaining to the hospitality industry and lectured extensively on the lodging industry to more than 40 of the nation’s premier real estate organizations. He has been quoted as a lodging industry expert in over 50 different leading newspapers, magazines and journals. Mr. Cahill is also co-chairman of the Lodging Industry Investment Council (“LIIC”), a nationally-recognized think tank and co-chairman of the International Lodging Finance Council (“ILFC”), an international hotel debt advisory group.
Mr. Cahill is a graduate of the Cornell University Hotel School where he was a Division 1-A, Academic All-America Football Player. Mike maintains the CRE designation from The Counselors of Real Estate, the MAI designation from the Appraisal Institute, is a Fellow in The Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (FRICS) and the CHA designation from the AH&LA. He is also a Certified Real Estate Appraiser in multiple states and a Licensed Real Estate Broker in Colorado.
