Commercial real estate professionals Taylor Fenn and Peter Katz of Walpin & Co. have acquired Dunton Commercial LLC with plans to expand its property management business.

“We saw a great opportunity to take an established Denver commercial real estate company and transform it by building around new, highly talented management and state-of-the-art systems and process,” said Fenn. “We will be aggressively growing the property management and maintenance businesses as well as acquiring investment properties to provide a full-service commercial management and investment company.”

Fenn has an extensive background in repositioning underutilized companies. Katz has more than 18 years in commercial property management operations, development and construction management. Over the past three years, the two have modernized Walpin & Co. by implementing the latest technology-based property management solutions increased construction management services and improved internal procedures and practices, positioning the company nicely for the acquisition of Dunton, the company said.

Nate Melchior, former senior real estate asset manager with Wells Fargo Wealth Management, joined the new partnership as CEO of Dunton Commercial. Melchior has spent his career in commercial real estate and, at Wells Fargo, sourced, acquired and managed commercial investment properties for high-net-worth individuals.

“Having spent the last 13 years on the ownership side of the commercial real estate business, I understand that the success of an investment property can hinge on the quality of the property management. I know the level of attention it takes to provide exceptional service to our clients. This is an exciting opportunity to partner with incredibly talented people and combine our experience to create the new Dunton Commercial,” Melchior said.

As part of the focus on relationship-driven growth of property management, Dunton will cease brokerage services by the end of the first quarter. The company said it recognizes contributions of the company’s commercial brokers and will support their continued service of existing accounts.

Dunton Commercial specializes in property management, consulting and advisory services for retail, office and industrial assets.
