Reza Akhavan joins HNTB Corp. as vice president and transportation practice leader

Reza Akhavan, PE, joined HNTB Corp. as vice president and transportation practice leader in Colorado. Based in the firm’s Denver office, Akhavan works closely with state and local transportation agencies to deliver solutions that address the most complex transportation challenges in one of the fastest-growing areas in the nation.

Akhavan previously worked with other engineering consulting firms, most recently serving in the roles of vice president and Rocky Mountain operations manager. He was responsible for the delivery of major projects that include RTD – Denver’s FasTracks program, Denver International Airport’s Concourse Expansion and Colorado Department of Transportation’s Central 70 projects. He also has a 27-year tenure with CDOT, working in engineering roles before serving as transportation director. He brings to his new role more than three decades of experience in planning, design, construction and program management of large-scale transportation projects.

Akhavan earned a Bachelor of Science in civil and environmental engineering from the University of Colorado Denver.
