Rooftop construction begins at 1001 17th St. in Denver

Franklin Street Properties, which owns 1001 17th St., has been gradually mixing up its tenant roster to keep pace with the evolution of the Denver market from energy and law firms to software and internet companies.

The owner and leasing team has accomplished this transformation of the tenant roster by providing tenant amenities that function as an extension of individual lease spaces and provide venues for collaboration, relaxation and team building.

Lobby improvements, conference center and a bike barn are some of the recent projects that have helped make the building competitive with the buildings in the Denver market, according to architect Mark McPherson of McPherson Architecture.

To continue in this effort, a 6,000-square-foot rooftop deck is being built. It will feature outdoor meeting and collaboration spaces, a fire pit and outdoor games.

The project is scheduled for completion in April. Edifice Builders is the general contractor.

“The owners asked us to create an outdoor environment which capitalizes on the building’s location in downtown Denver, and the great weather we enjoy in Colorado,” said McPherson, design team leader. ”We enjoy helping building owners find potential in building improvements which are sound business investments.”
