SCL Health closed on the $11.59 million purchase of 26.6 acres of land in Wheat Ridge, but said it hasn’t determined exactly how it will use the site.
The highly visible property is part of Evergreen Devco Inc.’s planned Clear Creek Crossing, located at the southwest quadrant of Interstate 70 and Colorado Highway 58. The development will include retail, entertainment, hospitality, employment and multifamily uses.
Sarah Ellis, communications manager for SCL’s Lutheran Medical Center in Wheat Ridge, said the health system needs to evaluate the health care needs of the community in determining what it will build on site.
“We need to go through an analysis process before we determine the best use of the land,” she said, noting it likely will be three to four years before the health system would start construction on site. “We’ll partner with Evergreen Development, the city of Wheat Ridge and the community to help direct our future plans,” Ellis said.
Final plans would need to be approved by SCL Health’s board of directors.
Ellis said the property is “in a great location,” with easy access to the organization’s existing facilities.
