Turner Construction Co. was awarded the contract to renovate the Stage and Ricketson theaters for the Denver Center for the Performing Arts.

“Turner Construction has been an outstanding partner to the DCPA for the past three seasons,” said Courter. “The company recently managed the renovation of our Space Theatre on time, under budget and with complete respect for the intricacies of theater scheduling and specialized technical requirements. We could not be in better hands as we embark on the most ambitious project in our facility master plan.”

This announcement rounds out the full design team, which includes Turner Construction, Semple Brown Design and DCPA staff.

“We’re honored to continue our decade-long working relationship with the DCPA,” said Chris Wineman, Semple Brown principal. “Their technical and artistic standards are extremely high, which challenges us to corresponding levels of creativity and problem solving. Our team formed a very productive relationship with Turner during the last phase of construction, and we’re pleased to continue working together.”

The renovation project has been scheduled around three DCPA Theatre Co. seasons, education activities and special events. Currently, the team is in the design stage. Key construction dates include:

• April 2019-November 2020: Stage Theatre reconstruction.

• April 2019-September 2019: support areas (dressing rooms, green rooms, production offices).

• March 2020-April 2021: Ricketson Theatre and lobby area reconstruction.

The project includes rebuilding its Stage and Ricketson theaters, equipping them with new seating, upgraded accessibility services, enhanced acoustics, improved sightlines and state-of-the-art technology; renovating backstage and support areas; updating critical fire and safety systems; and connecting The Ricketson Theatre to the main lobby, adding an elevator to improve accessibility.
