In 2018, 50 Fifty, a new 185,000-square-foot office building, joined the Denver Tech Center skyline hoping to establish itself as a premier property among the area’s abundant competition.

In the Denver-Boulder tech corridor, technology-driven companies such as Derive Systems are taking over. Derive Systems, a company with multiple offices already across the United States, creates intelligent, customized driving experiences by working to advance car enhancement software.

The comforts of home don’t always translate to the office, although Denver-based cybersecurity company Optiv is enticing its locally based remote workers back to the office with a brand-new, state-of-the-art, 75,000-square-foot headquarters. The new location includes many of the comforts of home.

As smartphone users and ride-share adopters, participants in the tropes of contemporary society play an important role in catalyzing disruptive innovation. Defined as “an innovation that creates a new market and value network while disrupting an existing market and value network,” society serves as continual witness to how innovations can single-handedly transform industries, systems and, for better or worse, human habits and behaviors.

This redevelopment will extend Fort Collins’ downtown corridor a block farther north and exchange an underutilized space with something truly unique in the Choice City.
