In April 2018, work began on the transformation of one of Colorado’s most significant and symbolic mountain resort venues: Breckenridge Ski Resort’s original base area, Peak 8. Improvements had been ongoing for more than a decade, and the construction effort has culminated in an unprecedented ski-in, ski-out development that is providing visitors to the mountain town with a grand destination.

PCL Construction recently topped out the Northfield Fire Station No. 39 at Central Park Boulevard and 50th Avenue in the Stapleton neighborhood. The fire station, which is scheduled for completion in May, will provide faster response times to surrounding neighborhoods and schools.

Mass timber projects have been on the rise in Colorado despite the height restrictions currently imposed by the 2015 IBC, and with the ongoing innovation and research surrounding the fire-resistiveness of mass timber that seeks to remove those height restrictions, there is tremendous growth potential in the mass timber market.
