As the nation braces to defend against this unprecedented pandemic known as the coronavirus (COVID-19), this is honestly an article topic I never thought I would need to address in my lifetime. Albeit, as in any crisis affecting the design and construction, as well as the commercial real estate industry, AGC of Colorado stands strong to protect our members and continually advocate for our industry as a whole.

Howell Construction completed Comcast’s occupied, 135,000-square-foot corporate interior renovation, as well as the removal and replacement of the parking lot at its Denver Iliff location. Howell worked with Comcast, JLL and Acquilano to develop a project plan that executed the client’s vision on time and within budget.

The economy is strong. Unemployment is at a 50-year low. The gross domestic product has continued to grow slowly and is likely to continue to grow. In Colorado, we have one of the top five economies in the country. We continue to see strength in our population and job growth within the state, and because of that, the construction market has been strong over the last several years and it’s likely to continue.

ScanlanKemperBard recently purchased the 482,700-square-foot industrial warehouse, which sits on a 32-acre site, for $76.6 million. Hyder Construction is the general contractor tapped for the project, which will begin this spring.

Completing the last 4.5-acre cornerstone site of Peak 8 in Breckenridge, East Peak 8 Luxury Hotel and Condominiums is under construction. It was design by Rowland+Broughton.

Downtown Superior’s Main Street, a walkable mixed-use development being developed by Ranch Capital and Morgan Holdings in Boulder County, is set to add a mixed-use component. It is being designed by KTGY Architecture + Planning and will be built by Colorado First Construction.

Martines Palmeiro Construction began construction in December on AvalonBay Communities Inc.’s first ground-up apartment community in the greater Denver area, this one in the River North Art District.

Underneath the archway of the former Wellington High School, which was demolished in the 1960s, Adolfson & Peterson broke ground on Poudre School District’s new Wellington Middle and High School project.

Vertix Builders began construction recently on the new Parker MOB III medical office building on the Parker Adventist Medical Campus. As a health care construction specialist, Vertix Builders will be working with a team that includes RTA Architects, Med Development and Parker Adventist.
